In the new era of music where streaming has killed the value of the traditional album, there are very few albums that I can truly listen to all the way through without skipping. Mac Miller's masterpiece "Swimming", which was released shortly before his untimely death in 2018, fits that criteria for me. While most of us know of a few of Mac Miller's hit songs such as "The Spins" and "Weekend", this album is by far my favorite out of his work. And while the album is a lot more laid back that others, the variety of beats and introspection through his lyrics creates a truly unique and complete listening experience. The songs throughout the album flow seamlessly together, while still being unique enough to stand out from each other. This is truly an easy listening rap album, and if you are looking for something to throw on while cleaning your room, or going for a drive, this is perfect for you. Here are a few of my favorite tracks from the album, and why they stood out to me:
Song: 2009
Artist: Mac Miller
Album: Swimming (2018)
Genre: Rap
My personal favorite from the album. The classical music introduction makes me the entire song feel like a musical masterpiece. The slow piano keys tie it all together with the slow drum beats. The entire song is introspection into the mind of Mac Miller, as he reflects on his past, as well as what he is struggling with now. It has a great message which emphasizes to let things go, and continue to move forward in your life.
Song: Ladders
Artist: Mac Miller
Album: Swimming (2018)
Genre: Rap
Another one of my favorites from the album. Compared to most of the other tracks, this one has a way more upbeat feel, while still staying true to Mac's easy delivery throughout the album. On top of this, this is probably one of the best instrumentals throughout the album. The jazzy feel makes the song so catchy.

oh my gosh! This is so crazy because I have just recently been starting to listen to Mac Miller again. His music is so beautiful and balanced. I think my favorite albums by him are the divine feminine and swimming (as well). I recommend listening to Dang! and Soulmate, theyre so beautiful and a great vibe.
